Let's Build Gonave, Haiti!

One way to help build up the economy on La Gonave is by farming, but not necessarily traditional crops.  Currently we are using modern beekeeping to raise organic honey.  While beekeeping isn't new, using modern hives is something that is new for La Gonave and Haiti.  Using this method will produce more honey, and allow for a safer way to extract honey. Also while on La Gonave, we started the first steps of raising Kiwano.  Kiwano is a wonderful crop as it does will in tropical climate and can do well in drought.  The plant does well in Africa, so having such a crop in Haiti can allow La Gonave to have a strong market in Kiwano.  Currently this crop is already in the small sprout stage and will fruit sometime this summer. The city of Anse-a-Galets, Let's Build Gonave, Haiti, and Hurko will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding, or MOU.  I will be working with/for Hurko to make the honeybee project a reality. The purpose of the MOU is to develop a viable honeybee operation on the island of La Gonave.  Given that city land will be needed for some parts of the project, a MOU is needed to show that all parties are serious about moving forward. I had mentioned in a few earlier posts about the city park/plaza revitalization and how it would require the city's approval.  While this is still the case, a MOU will be sent to the city in the middle of February with work on the plaza to be done later. The plaza will form part of the proposed honeybee highway which will serve as the spine of the honeybee operation.  This highway is needed since the lack of fodder for the honeybees are somewhat limited on the island. When you look at Haiti as a whole, there are so many challenges.   Often it seems very overwhelming when you see that everything is needed.  By everything, education, housing, clean water, sanitation, jobs, energy, security, etc.  Gonave has a unique chance to get this right with the correct leadership.  With the right leadership that isn't afraid to make bold change, and believes in selfless thoughts, Gonave can have a rebirth of sorts.  Many have promised Haiti a rne, or Rebirth after the earthquake.  Many places are still waiting years after it happened.  Much of the billions of dollars promised have yet to reach Haiti, and many NGO's or non-governmental agencies pocketed the money for operation costs.  Much of the money was lost due to corruption within Haiti itself.  Citizens have to be smarter and demand change.  This isn't to turn Gonave into an independent nation.  This isn't to rally against Haiti.  This IS t...

Creation of ID cards ID cards This is a sample ID card I found online from the United Kingdom,  This card is probably for a foreign student who is in England.  I will show additional cards from England that will show the front and back of the cards for actual citizens of the United Kingdom. Purpose The purpose of the ID cards are simple.  For one it will allow Gonave to have valid proof of who actually resides on the island, and their age.  It also provides proof to the United Nations that citizens on the island can easily be identified for voting purposes, and legal rights.  This will be very critical if the citizens of Gonave vote to succeed from Haiti. Due to a large response from people all over the world about wanting to know more about Haiti and Gonave, I decided it was time to change the name of the blog slightly to Let's Build Gonave, Haiti vs Let's Build Haiti.  The change is needed for many reasons, one being foreign investment, tourism, and even volunteers.  Their focus was on our page, and the assumption was Gonave was a city in Haiti.  We had to inform many that it is an island with about 80-100,000 people. The change will go into effect on this blog site immediately.  Gonave TV, will still stay the same, and the Gonave Government Portal will still stay the say. Things are slowly changing, and it is starting with administrative stuff first.
