Let's Build Gonave, Haiti!

As you know I wrote about having Gonave split into different zones.  Not only would it help with identifying specific locations on the island, but it also will help with development.  If a particular area is being developed, we can list the zone and people will know where we are speaking of. I also wrote about weather stations on the island.  These stations are a must and are very important.  Each station would cost around $5 - $8,000 US per station.  These stations would be placed all around the island, so that weather can be pulled from different areas of the island.  After doing a large amount of research on this, many of the stations run on Solar Power.  This is key as it will work well on Gonave due to the lack of infrastructure.  Also these stations would have backup power generators as well.  Given the small amount of power these units will use, solar makes the best sense.  Due to its durability and versatility, shipping contai...

I had mentioned in a previous post that HULU is OTT type of programming.  It allows for no third party in programming.  Due to this, the platform allows for many different networks, movies, music, TV shows, etc to be available to users to watch online.  While users can also use their phone, tablets, PC's, and watch it on TV via a streaming player of some sort. For Gonave, the service would link many different types of entertainment options that would utilize the internet to provide residents with entertainment, sometimes even live.  The service is still in the early planning phases, and will only happen if certain metrics are met.  Mainly if Gonave is accepted as a SAR by the Haitian government, then this among many other things would take place. OTT, also known as over-the-top could be an affordable way to provide Gonavian's with entertainment.  When you think of OTT, think of Hulu.  It allows one to have audio, video, and other types of media through the internet without a third party.  It allows users to watch or listen using the cell phones, game consoles, tablets, etc.  Channels are created, and subscribers can then choose their channel, or movies they want to watch.  Creating an OTT platform will be far cheaper option than launching satellites into orbit, or paying large fees to big cable companies.  Currently we have been looking into ways to start a small program that will be the backbone of the OTT platform.  Initially the program will be free, and when fully built would have a small monthly fee.  This would be the cable network that would have radio, news, movies, and shows featuring local talent.  This could then extend beyond Gonave and also be a available in Haiti....
