Getting large scale resorts to Gonave / Lè w gwo echèl resorts Gonave

If the idea of turning Gonave into a Special Administrative Region happens, then it is likely that the Bureau of Land Management would be created.  The role of that agency is to make sure that land is developed properly and environmentally correct.  Getting a large scale resort to Gonave would be key to building the economy. Sandals Resorts would be a good company to bring to Gonave.  Not only is the company based in nearby Jamaica, but it could easily purchase land at a discount to build their luxury resort.  It could be possible that the company would have to own the property for a specific number of years.  Gonave could easily sell 30 acres of land to a company like Sandals.  This money then would be used to build up the infrastructure near and around the resort.  As more taxes come in from the resort, that tax money would be put into the large Gonavian economy. Putting at a minimum of 3 resorts on the island would not be a major impact to the ...

Could this be Gonave?

All Inclusive Resorts The above picture is of a resort that is in Jamaica.  As you can see the property has many hotel rooms, it's own private beach, swimming pools, spas, etc.  These properties also have their own restaurants and entertainment. Going to these resorts are not cheap, but many choose these types of resorts for vacation, holiday, weddings, anniversaries, etc.  Gonave could use this as a way to build it's economy.  The payoff of these types or results sometimes a few thousand dollars per guest, can form the initial financial backbone for the island.  These resorts are a good choice because you don't have to build a large amount of infrastructure to get them going.  Private piers will allow vacationers to come directly to the resort from Haiti.  Also vacationers naturally tend to stay around the actual resort versus going outside of that resorts boundary.  This is a win for Gonave because again, the lack of roads, power, etc w...

Turning Gonave into a Free Trade Zone/Export Trade Zone.

Turning Gonave into a Free Trade Zone To move the economy of Gonave as one single unit is to make Gonave a Free Trade Zone, which is the same as an Export Trade Zone, will bring in many different companies to the island.  Having a FTZ is nothing new, and it builds an economy.  Instead of having just a few zones which are usually around seaports, international airports, or on international borders, I propose turning the entire island of Gonave into a FTZ. The entire island of Mauritius in Africa is also a FTZ.  This has boosted this tiny island of only 787 square miles of having a GDP of $10.49 billion as of 2012, according to the World Bank.  The much larger Madagascar in Africa, which is at 226,597 square miles, which the entire isn't isn't a FTZ has a GDP of $9.975 billion as of 2012 according to the World Bank.  So not only does Madagascar have much more land, and over 20 million people compared to Mauritius which has just over 1 million people, Maurit...
