Let's Build Gonave, Haiti!

Let's Build Gonave, Haiti, will be constructing a website to go live on June 1, 2014.  The website is being hosted by the Country of Tokelau and also offering the domain.The website will be the Gonave Government Portal, and will have a different format than the current hosting service in-which, the web page wasn't active. Things are looking up for Gonave, and the webpage will talk more in dept as to projects and timelines. Please stay tuned! Due to a large response from people all over the world about wanting to know more about Haiti and Gonave, I decided it was time to change the name of the blog slightly to Let's Build Gonave, Haiti vs Let's Build Haiti.  The change is needed for many reasons, one being foreign investment, tourism, and even volunteers.  Their focus was on our page, and the assumption was Gonave was a city in Haiti.  We had to inform many that it is an island with about 80-100,000 people. The change will go into effect on this blog site immediately.  Gonave TV, will still stay the same, and the Gonave Government Portal will still stay the say. Things are slowly changing, and it is starting with administrative stuff first. There are many different groups proposing how to develop Gonave, and how to develop an economy on the island.  Some use crowdfunding or investors.  Let's Build Haiti attempted this and then thought of ways to make developing Gonave a reality.  What makes Let's Build Haiti different is that it is already an established business.  We are a small brewery, which currently is creating a couple of beers that will be the signature beers of Gonave.  The purpose is that each of the beers developed will be sold, and the profits from those beers would be put into a fund.  Now how is it possible to donate 100% of money from a few beers that we develop to help with the building of Gonave?  Through corporate backers who will sponsor both beer projects, which will pay for the overhead (equipment, raw materials, shipping, etc).  We hope that from this we establish a group that will work with the Haitian Government to lease the island of Gonave for developmen...

Let's Build Haiti has a YouTube channel called Gonave TV.  Videos have not yet been uploaded, but we will be posting some soon.  The channel will explain the role of our soon to be nonprofit, activities, and news. Stay Tuned! Go Gonave!

As I posted last year, that 2014 will be a bigger year for Let's Build Haiti.  So far we have had more traffic now than at any other time. A fundraising drive will be setup in the coming days to raise money to start a nonprofit and to finance a website.  More details will be coming, but I wanted to share the exciting news about this.  As the drive comes to terms, I will be posting how on how you can get involved. Once this nonprofit is setup, we hope to move towards our goals and making the lives of the people of Gonave better. Go Gonave!

Work is still progressing on the Gonave Government Portal .  You can see the updates here http://gonavegovernment.webs.com/ .  Somethings have been streamlined to make the page function a little better. Visitors will now be able to see the local time, and temperature in the region.  There are three currently inactive buttons that are mainly for residents of Gonave.  These buttons are: Housing, Health & Medical Services, and Employment. The layout of the page is different as well.  There is a column on the left of the page, along with a top picture banner, and a label bar which still has the Home page, Contact Us, and Focus City. The left column, which was mentioned before, is for News Updates, current time and temperature.   The Let's Build Haiti button, and Gonave Newsletter are still on the page and both of these items are active. The site is a work in progress, look for additional changes in the future. 

The Let's Build Haiti blog got over 500 views last month, which was our first official month for the blog. Now this is nothing for mega sites and large blogs, but it shows that people want to know about Haiti and Gonave. I see no reason why we can't double this, this month!  Go Gonave!
