Ginger Beer

I wrote a few months back about producing a Ginger beer that would be made on Gonave and then sold to different markets in the Caribbean.  Well I finished the project and did a few notes. One being that this would be a great beer to sell in many different markets.  The amount of raw ingredients used, and the amount of LME (liquid malt extract) and DME (dry malt extract) was not overwhelming.  The goal is to make a beer that is fast to produce, great tasting, and very cheap to make.  This will allow the product to sell for a low starting price. Things that I want to look into more.  To me Ginger beer isn't really my favorite.  While many like it, I just find that the ginger can be a bit overwhelming.  Sure I can solve this many different ways, including more water, and less ginger.  While you get a nice tropical taste due to the citrus involved, it is a beer that is designed for someone who wants a refreshing drink. With that said, I will gi...

Move has been completed.

So as you may know I moved my offices from Albuquerque, to Seattle.  The move was pretty smooth, and only when I arrived in Seattle did I have a few hiccups.  So I am sorry for not having any updates. I will have a few updates starting tomorrow when I talk about water conservation on Gonave.  I also will re-visit the topic of water, and things that could be done early on to move Gonave in the right direction and be a leader in the region on water conservation. Future updates will focus on the topic of compost, and beer.  I have been working on the New World Ale beer, and I am still going to go the Ginger Beer. Go Gonave!

Establishing a company and moving base

I recently started up my company which deals with residential leases, and will soon expand to other types of real estate.  If you noticed I haven't been writing lately, it is due to being very busy getting this company started.  I am in the process of moving from Albuquerque, NM to Seattle, WA.  The move is one that is strategic when it comes to business.  I will still be working on the Let's Build Gonave, Haiti campaign.  I still will be working on beers that will be brewed on Gonave.  I had to put the Ginger Beer on hold for now due to starting up my business.  The New World Ale, however was amazing, and will be making a second round of this beer to get all the flavors I am looking for. Stay tuned! Go Gonave!

Review on Gonavian New World Ale, coming soon. / Revize sou Gonavian New World Ale, vini byento.

Just finished the conditioning process of the Gonavian New World Ale.  If you remember a previous blog I was talking about making an Ale that is made from Gonave, and also a Ginger Beer.  Well I started off with the ale. The ale is called "New World" due to the type of hops that are in the beer.  This would be a beer that I will sell and donate money to Gonave in the form of a not for profit.  I have to tell you, I have already tasted the beer, and it is amazing.  I will leave it there, and go into more detail in a later blog.  I will tell you the make up of the beer, the flavor, taste/mouth feel, etc.  So stay tuned! Go Gonave! ----------------------- Jis fini pwosesis la kondisyone nan Gonavian New World Ale la. Si ou sonje yon blog anvan m 'te pale sou fè yon Ale ki te fè soti nan Gonave , epi tou li yon jenjanm byè . Oke mwen te kòmanse koupe ak ale la. Se ale nan ki rele " New World " akòz kalite a nan ...

Gonavian Ginger Beer Part II (Gonavian jenjanm byè Pati II)

So some of the things I am coming up with for this Ginger Beer, which I mentioned would have an ABV of 8-9%, would include lemon and lime juice in it's makeup. Not only would it contain lemon and lime juice as well as the actual lemons and limes.  Of course you will not see the lemons or the limes when the beer is fully fermented, but the beer will lack hops.  Hops is usually a mainstay in beer and very essential.  Due to the make up of Ginger Beer, it will lack hops, but will still have a malt extract of some type, possibly a Pale DME. I know all of this may not mean much to you, but trust me, the flavor will be wonderful.  Also the beer will contain a large amount of honey.  So stay tuned to the Gonavian Ginger Beer, as I dive into making of this beer.  Who knows it could be one of the largest produced beers in the Caribbean. Go Gonave! ---------------- Se konsa, kèk nan bagay sa yo mwen vini ak pou sa a Ginger byè , ki mwen mansyone ...

Gonavian Ginger Beer

Image
As you know I have a small nanobrewery.  One type of beer that I have not had, nor created is Ginger Beer.  This is beer that is made mainly from Ginger Root, along with Lemon, and sometimes Limes, which is then fermented. My thoughts would be to make a beer called the Gonavian Ginger Beer.  I'm expected the ABV, or Alcohol by Volume to be around 8-9%.  Bud Light is usually around 3.7%.  Ginger Root The beer would be similar to Jamaican Ginger Beer but distinctly different and would carry a flair of La Gonave.  As I get closer to brewing this beer, I will take pictures and even videos of the process.  My intention is to be able to manufacture this beer on Gonave. Stay Tuned! Go Gonave!
