Let's Build Gonave, Haiti!

No doubt companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft make major impacts on their local, state, and Federal economies.  These companies hire and train specialist that command a strong economy which trickles down to other services and businesses in their areas. Haiti is behind the fence on many advancements including IT (information technology).  While there are tablet makers and wireless companies that are in the area as well as internet connections, the country is still not active online. In fact to get a domain that ends in ht which is for Haiti, it costs about $99 US, while you can get a .com, or eve a .kr (Korea) for less than $20 US.  This barrier to entry prevents the country from being online in one instance, and puts the country into obscurity.  While there are mild internet connects in the country, mainly due to wireless telephone companies and large internet towers, Haiti must improve it's IT infrastructure. Imagine the IT infrastructure on La Gonave....

(Image by Google Earth) This map is what could be the commuter rail line for Gonave.  The line would be some 77 miles long when completed, and would be done in phases/sections.  The goal is to connect the island with rail, while limiting the amount of personal vehicles. The track would be single track in most locations, and then branch to double track along some stations and major areas. I will post photos and videos of a potential train system that could utilize this track.  Not only will this system allow for passenger traffic by day and night, but also will allow for freight in the late hours of the night, which can limit the amount of money needed for have more ports and highways. While this system is many years away, and completing the entire system is even many more years away, it is an idea of how to modernize Gonave and put it in direct competition with places like Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. July 9, 2011 with more than 98% vote from the future citizens of what will become South Sudan, the world's newest nation was born.  I remember this day and was very excited.  I knew of issues going on in Sudan and how long the southerns had wanted their own country which would look out for their interest.  I remember thinking hopefully this will happen in Darfur. Well back then I had worked with a few companies and even an Indiana State Senator to help South Sudan and their economy.  Why not bring in fresh ideas and new businesses to a place where there was virtually no jobs and no infrastructure? Well one thing that plays common in many third world nations is, patience.  Contacting high level officials offices isn't the problem, it is waiting for a response back.  Then when you get a response you have to wait again for additional details.  Given that S.
