Full mini bus route
I created an idea of the initial mini bus line that would be the full route. The route connects the public wharf, to the public plaza, the outdoor market, and on to the airport. This route takes into account the current paved sections of road that is in the city of Anse-a-Galets.
This route connects the most nodes, or important areas of the city together. If we were to pave the first 1 mile of road, it would connect from the wharf, all the way to the outdoor markets. The route could either be done in concrete, or with concrete pavers. The pavers are easy to replace, but very labor intensive.
Depending on funding, the city could buy a large portable mixer that can help with the concrete option, but still this will be a labor intensive job. What is really needed is a large concrete mixing truck that can pour a large amount of concrete at a time. Since logistics make this nearly impossible for a concrete mixer truck, a large portable mixer that is pulled by a truck will have to be used. This will add to the overall time and cost of having the road completed.
This route is a total of 2.5 miles long from end to end. It takes a East to West route that covers the entire city. Now I did put in more than just the 4 stops that you see. Some of them are of potential growth areas, but for simplicity, I only included stops that would be initial stops. The first three would be built in the first phase.
As you can see the route would cover the entire length of the city, and even go past the entrance of the Saline. To help with drainage, a small trench would have to be built under the road with drainage pipes. This will then allow the flood water and rain water to not disturb the road.
This first phase would be a major improvement on it's own with a 1 mile paved road. Ideally the maintenance facility should be built somewhere along this initial route. Again this facility would be able to handle electric buses as well as a future expansion into diesel buses.
Now I have already designed a second route that is again inside of Anse-a-Galets that could be a future possibility, building off of the first starter route.
What are your thoughts? Stay tuned!
