Ideas on housing / Lide sou lojman
While I mentioned in a previous blog it makes sense to build dense, given the island of Gonave's size, but to build using concrete is also important. This is due to Gonave being in a hurricane zone as well as earthquakes.
I want to break down how the first housing blocks will look, streets, utilities, retail, etc. Today I will tackle streets.
For now I will talk in generalities. Let's take the buildings in the bottom right (2 white and grey buildings). The first construction could be easily done with two towers. These buildings are about 35 stories tall. There is a much smaller building in the middle of the two, which will usually contain retail, laundry facilities, small amount of office space, etc.
So how do you start with these two buildings, that will eventually look like this large housing project, and connect it with roads? Simply put, you don't. The best thing for Gonave initially is to avoid massive road infrastructure, gas and diesel facilities, etc. The cost doesn't make sense, and initially with just two buildings it absolutely doesn't make sense. To connect the entire housing grid, would be through large decorative pavers. Not only are pavers fast, but very durable. On top of that, they are very cheap. The entire housing complex would be all done as a pedestrian only area. That isn't to say parking garages will be built on site in the future, and roads would connect directly to those parking garages, but the entire complex, complete with shops, offices, and residential will all be by walking.
The build time for pavers can be done without massive heavy equipment. Local workforce can easily implement these pavers, and the pavers can even be constructed on Gonave. This limits the logistical challenge of moving large heavy equipment in to level and create road beds. While still some land work will need to be done, the amount of land work and the costs are cut dramatically.
The large complex in the future could be connected to a light rail line, which would connect other parts of Gonave, which will be discussed in a future blog.
Go Gonave!

Pandan ke mwen mansyone nan yon blog anvan li fè sans nan bati dans, yo bay zile a nan gwosè Gonave a, men yo bati lè l sèvi avèk konkrè enpòtan tou. Sa a se akòz Gonave yo te nan yon zòn siklòn kòm byen ke tranblemanntè.
Mwen vle kraze ki jan blòk yo an premye lojman ap gade, lari, sèvis piblik, Yo Vann an Detay, elatriye Jodi a mwen pral atake lari yo.

Mwen vle kraze ki jan blòk yo an premye lojman ap gade, lari, sèvis piblik, Yo Vann an Detay, elatriye Jodi a mwen pral atake lari yo.
Pou koulye a, mwen pral pale nan jeneralite . Ann pran bilding yo nan bò dwat la anba (2 blan ak bilding gri ). Konstriksyon an premye ta ka fasil fè ak de gwo fò tou won . Bilding sa yo se apeprè 35 istwa wotè. Gen yon bilding pi piti anpil nan mitan an nan de a, ki pral anjeneral gen ladan Vann an Detay, enstalasyon lesiv , ti kantite lajan pou espas biwo , elatriye
Ka tan an bati pou pave dwe fè san yo pa masiv ekipman lou . Mendèv lokal ka byen fasil aplike pave sa yo, epi pave yo ka menm dwe konstwi sou Gonave . Sa a limite defi a lojistik nan k ap deplase gwo ekipman lou nan li nan yon nivo ak kreye kabann wout la. Pandan y ap toujou kèk travay peyi yo ap bezwen yo dwe fè , yo kantite lajan an nan travay peyi yo ak depans sa yo koupe dramatikman.
Te kapab konplèks la gwo nan tan kap vini an dwe konekte nan yon liy sou ray limyè , ki ta konekte nan lòt pati nan Gonave , ki pral diskite nan yon blog nan lavni.
Ale Gonave !
