Transpark idea...again.
Gonave Transpark
I've talked with a few people who built the Kentucky Tranpark in Bowling Green. This project has brought about 1,300 jobs, with only 4 facilities. It also has a training facility that helps train staff at the various industrial companies. The project was to include an airstrip, but that idea was shot down. The park itself is ever evolving, and actually didn't cost the city a large sum of money.
The park sells land to companies, which in turn will build their facility, and possibly get incentives for locating to the park and holding a specific number of employees.
So would this type of thing work on Gonave? Consider if the entire island was a Special Administrative Region of Haiti. This plan would be the start of developing an economic base on Gonave. Consider the idea of farms as well. I mentioned the transpark idea before, click here.
When you consider the contacts I have been getting about smaller businesses wanting to locate to Gonave, a Transpark could make sense. What would it look like?
The Transpark would be an industrial park built on the island of
Gonave. At approximately 1,200 acres the
park would contain rail, air, sea, and highways to build the economy of
Gonave. Designed to handle warehouses,
heavy and light industrial companies, high tech firms, contact centers, research lab, and office
space.
The park will also contain Innovate Gonave which will serve
as a business incubator from research labs and a flagship university.
In addition to Innovate Gonave, the Gonave
Globalplex Seaport will allow cargo to be shipped in and out of Gonave. The Globalplex will handle dry and wet goods,
as well as refrigerated cargo.
The rail system which eventually will link the entire island
of Gonave would have it’s main maintenance facility in the transpark. This rail system will allow goods to move
freely throughout the island from many far distant places.
Gonave Highway System will allow for not only people but
goods to also move around the region.
Similar to the rail system, this system will be built in many phases.
A international airport will also be built in the Transpark,
which will have a 2 mile runway. Along
with a passenger terminal, the airport will also have cargo facilities.
This transpark will model the Kentucky Transpark that is in Bowling Green, KY. The major difference is the various modes for transporting goods and services.
If you look at the information I complied over last year, all of the things mentioned above tie in well and will start the development of the tiny island of Gonave. Change is going to happen on Gonave, lets make sure it is the right change.
Go Gonave!
