Purpose of the site, and why Gonave.

I wanted to touch on a few different things about this blog on building Haiti and Gonave specifically. First I am no expert on nation building or economic protocol.  I do know about business to a degree, but again I couldn't form a major economic policy.  This blog is my opinion and possible ideas.

Secondly, I am not Hatian.  I am an African American who wants to see a black nation be as economically respected as many Asian and European nations.  I want to see a black nation of many millionaires, a large and robust middle class, and a strong culture of ideas and beliefs.

Third I do think that both Haiti and Gonave should be redeveloped.  I think Gonave can and should be its own nation.  I feel that many people know where Haiti is, but not Gonave.  This blog is to draw attention to both Haiti and Gonave, with a strong focus on Gonave.

Finally most development from tourism, to infrastructure projects will be some form of public and private partnership.  Many of the ideas I mentioned about driving tourism to light industry, are just ideas.  As far as how to make tourism a reality, someone much smarter than I can help to figure all of that out.

Lets bring some strong ideas about how to solve some of Gonave's problems.  I am, currently working on plans to fix the chronic water issues on the island.  Stay tuned as I will show some relatively low cost ideas that will aid in providing the people of Gonave with water.

La Gonave has an opportunity to do it right the first time.  Meaning that if the right people get involved and their goal is to help the Haitians to help themselves, then La Gonave could serve as the template for Haiti. La Gonave has many advantages over the mainland.  For one, with a smaller population the needs of food, housing, water, etc are less, so programs that are developed could easy cover this small population.  La Gonave is a blank canvas, so streets can be placed based on results that other cities around the world have tried.  La Gonave can build it's economy on just about any industry, although tourism and agriculture are probably the prime industries.  The list goes on and on. Flag of Gonave?

I created the image below.  I will explain why I choose the colors I choose. So three basic color were chosen to represent the future island nation of Gonave, which are yellow, sky blue, and green. I did research on flags, and why colors should be chosen, what colors shouldn't be put on a flag, the meaning of colors, how not to over complicate a flag, and make sure that a made can easily be remember by school age kids. So here it is, and I will explain the colors. First off, the green portion of the flag represents the green lush vegetation of the island.  It also means a land rich with fertile soil which provides the energy of it's people. The blue portion represents the bright skys over the island of Gonave.  The color is a sky blue, which shows a cloudless day, one with no storms, but of a clear day.  It also means that the sky is the limit.  Finally yellow represents the sun.  The sun is shining on a lush green nation on a cloudless day,...

Carnival Cruise to build port in Haiti/Carnival Cruise yo bati pò an Ayiti

I remember early on when writing this blog, I stated that Gonave should have a cruise company build a port in Gonave, and it would be a major boost to Gonave's economy.  I was told by a local group who wants to turn Gonave into its own country, that I was incorrect.  They said cruise companies don't build ports and that the local municipality has to do that.  Of course that is incorrect!   I knew this because once taking a cruise myself Carnival mentioned they built a port in Cuba and are waiting for the US to overturn somethings so that cruises from America to Cuba can happen.  So again Gonave, be sure you know who you are listening to, and what their goals are.  Here at Let's Build Gonave Haiti, we have a core group that does research before we speak.
