Let's Build Gonave, Haiti!

One of my associates who recently came back from La Gonave reported that honeybees were spotted on the island.  While this associate isn't an expert beekeeper, I can't confirm if it was in fact a honeybee.  If there was a honeybee, then that means a hive or several hives exist.  Maybe not from a traditional beekeeper sense of raising bees, but just wild hives that exist. This is critical and very important in many ways.  For one it means that our operation will be successful because if wild honeybees exist then there is currently enough food to support them.  Secondly it means that we can expand more rapidly.  With wild bees, they can be captured and put into hives and start production, drones could mate with the queens from our colony, etc.  It's very exciting and I think that we have something here that could be a major success. As you know I wrote about having Gonave split into different zones.  Not only would it help with identifying specific locations on the island, but it also will help with development.  If a particular area is being developed, we can list the zone and people will know where we are speaking of. I also wrote about weather stations on the island.  These stations are a must and are very important.  Each station would cost around $5 - $8,000 US per station.  These stations would be placed all around the island, so that weather can be pulled from different areas of the island.  After doing a large amount of research on this, many of the stations run on Solar Power.  This is key as it will work well on Gonave due to the lack of infrastructure.  Also these stations would have backup power generators as well.  Given the small amount of power these units will use, solar makes the best sense.  Due to its durability and versatility, shipping contai...

When you think of a strong and vibrant Central Business District, you think of tall buildings, crowded streets full of cars, sidewalks full of people, and a synergy all of its own. Cities like the one pictured (Seattle) are always evolving.  They started off very humble beginnings, and then become world class cities.  For me all strong cities must have a strong and vibrant downtown.  One key element for Gonave is to turn the entire island into one city.  Given the small island size, and the steep terrain, it would serve best as one city with many neighborhoods.  In a previous blog I wrote about focus cities, which in themselves are not cities, but more of a economic focus of one neighborhood.  Gonave also would need to become a Special Administrative Region and govern itself and build it's own economic policy.  If Gonave does nothing or becomes a nation, like some propose, then it does very little to move the island forward, and could move the i...
