Gonavian Ginger Beer

Image
As you know I have a small nanobrewery.  One type of beer that I have not had, nor created is Ginger Beer.  This is beer that is made mainly from Ginger Root, along with Lemon, and sometimes Limes, which is then fermented. My thoughts would be to make a beer called the Gonavian Ginger Beer.  I'm expected the ABV, or Alcohol by Volume to be around 8-9%.  Bud Light is usually around 3.7%.  Ginger Root The beer would be similar to Jamaican Ginger Beer but distinctly different and would carry a flair of La Gonave.  As I get closer to brewing this beer, I will take pictures and even videos of the process.  My intention is to be able to manufacture this beer on Gonave. 100 posts and 3,000 views

Crazy to think that when I started this blog I thought I would maybe have a dozen blogs and a handful of views. To my joy over 3,000 views have taken place in less than 6 months.  During that time I have created 100 posts, or news links.  While I have been very busy on this end and haven't written as often as I have, I will take some time soon and add to the blog site. Also I will have some new additions to the site as well.  Thank you for your support. Go Gonave!

Official Campaign has been started.

Photos from a mock farm

Image
I went to the Albuquerque BioPark where they have a mock farm on display.  The farm has a farm house, and also has an actual farm with cows, goats, sheep, pigs, and chickens.  What makes this farm unique is that everything is built on a a little more than an acre.  The farm also had fruit trees as well, which I will put in another blog. This is a view of the farm house from the barn. This is the barn which held all of the animals mentioned Inside of the barn, which was very clean. Next to the barn was a chicken pen. View of side of the barn, and the chicken pen. Inside the barn was a goat bay. View of the bays/stalls for the animals. More of a view of the animal stalls. Another view of the chicken pen. This is inside of the barn for the chickens. Outside view of barn.  The sheep, cows, and pigs had their own pens. Another larger view of the barn and it's crude fencing.   This is the farm house with 3 bedrooms, kitchen, a bathroom, and liv

Could this be Gonave?

All Inclusive Resorts The above picture is of a resort that is in Jamaica.  As you can see the property has many hotel rooms, it's own private beach, swimming pools, spas, etc.  These properties also have their own restaurants and entertainment. Going to these resorts are not cheap, but many choose these types of resorts for vacation, holiday, weddings, anniversaries, etc.  Gonave could use this as a way to build it's economy.  The payoff of these types or results sometimes a few thousand dollars per guest, can form the initial financial backbone for the island.  These resorts are a good choice because you don't have to build a large amount of infrastructure to get them going.  Private piers will allow vacationers to come directly to the resort from Haiti.  Also vacationers naturally tend to stay around the actual resort versus going outside of that resorts boundary.  This is a win for Gonave because again, the lack of roads, power, etc will have very little impact

First Bus Made In Haiti By Jean-Paul Coutard (Video in Kreyol)

A businessman in Nigeria created a car company, and now it seems that a Haitian businessman has done the same.  This businessman needs major support to keep this project going and expanding.  This is the type of development that would work well on Gonave!

Solar Powered Hospital Opens in Haiti - GeoBeats News

This makes perfect sense, and it is good to see that it is in Haiti.  Gonave could easily do the same thing with respect to schools or any structure that will have a large roof plan. Go Gonave!

Transpark idea...again.

Image
Gonave Transpark I've talked with a few people who built the Kentucky Tranpark in Bowling Green.  This project has brought about 1,300 jobs, with only 4 facilities.  It also has a training facility that helps train staff at the various industrial companies.  The project was to include an airstrip, but that idea was shot down.  The park itself is ever evolving, and actually didn't cost the city a large sum of money.   The park sells land to companies, which in turn will build their facility, and possibly get incentives for locating to the park and holding a specific number of employees.   So would this type of thing work on Gonave?  Consider if the entire island was a Special Administrative Region of Haiti .  This plan would be the start of developing an economic base on Gonave.  Consider the idea of farms as well. I mentioned the transpark idea before, click here. When you consider the contacts I have been getting about smaller businesses wanting to l

Let's Build Haiti is starting up a fundraising drive

As I posted last year, that 2014 will be a bigger year for Let's Build Haiti.  So far we have had more traffic now than at any other time. A fundraising drive will be setup in the coming days to raise money to start a nonprofit and to finance a website.  More details will be coming, but I wanted to share the exciting news about this.  As the drive comes to terms, I will be posting how on how you can get involved. Once this nonprofit is setup, we hope to move towards our goals and making the lives of the people of Gonave better. Go Gonave!

What American city should be the gateway to a new Gonave for air travel?

Image
Miami!  While Gonave has dirt runway that can only accommodate very small planes, the new Gonave will have a modern runway.  Based on many international destinations, a 2 mile runway is typical in order for an airport to handle very large passenger and cargo planes. So what American City should be on Gonave's short list of Gateway cities?  Without question this should be Miami for many reasons.  Like New York City, Miami has many Haitian nationals and many people of Haitian decent.  So air traffic to Gonave could easily be established due to this, especially if better infrastructure to Haiti were to happen. The close proximity to Haiti/Gonave makes Miami also very attractive as well.  Smaller aircraft can be flown in initially until service levels prove for larger craft.  Also an entrepreneur on Gonave or Haiti could start a small feeder airline that connects Miami to Gonave. Miami is an international city.  With flights from most major US cities, cities in Eu

Petition coming soon

Deadly voyages devastate Haitian island - Patrick Farrell/Miami Herald Staff

Image
As the launching point for Haitians leaving by sea to seek refuge in the United States, ÃŽle de la Tortue on Haiti's northern coast is strewn with the skeletal makings of rickety, wooden sailboats. An omnipresent air of desperation and danger belies the rustic island's idyllic, sun-bleached shores.
