Not-for-profit NGO #2

I could be sealing the deal with yet another not-for-profit group there on La Gonave.  This group is much larger than the La Gonave Haiti Partnership.  Both groups are doing amazing jobs, and the honey bee program at Let's Build Gonave, Haiti could be making a major impact early to mid-next year. I will keep the name of the second NGO a secret for now as we are working out major details, but this seems like a go.  Also I am working on a different program that will help with the deforestation issue.  The honey bees and the deforestation issue go hand in hand.  The bees pollinate flowers which allows them to grow and create new varieties.  This also helps with fruit bearing trees, as the bees will help to pollinate them as well.  Bees are key to these plants and trees survival.  The plants and trees are also very much important to have inorder to keep the bees alive.  This symbiotic relationship is key to life on the island. With plants and trees, it creates shade, reduces ero

Working with a large NGO on the ground to get the bee project started

A group called La Gonave Partnership, which is a group of churches based in the US, as well as on La Gonave, Haiti, could be working with us to get the bee hive project started.  Nothing is set in stone, but the financing and movement of this project could start very soon.  Go Gonave!

Honey Bee Hive Project - Go Fund Me

This project is with Go Fund Me. Now it doesn't have the money that has already been raised which so far is at $63. That money will be added into this Go Fund Me total at a later time.

This could be Gonave.  If it works for a wealthy country like the Netherlands, then why not Gonave?

Spirit 1 MW Turbine Power Generation System

Image
A company in California called CAI builds several different variations of power plants that are affordable and come as a complete package.  The company can build from 1 to 10 MW power plants.  Currently we are in talks with the company to understand their application and how it can work on Gonave. While these plants are not using renewable energy, they do use natural gas.  So these plants would need to have a constant supply of natural gas to keep operating. The Spirit 1 seen above from cai3.com can power about 1,000 American homes.  Given that citizens in Canada and America use more power than anyone else on the plant, this power plant can provide a large amount of power to a good segment to Gonave.  The plant would mostly work to power light manufacturing.  Due to back up, two of these plants would be purchased so that there would be no power interruptions.  CAI also makes renewable energy plants as well.  Funding for this system could come from many different sources, so st

Let the rne (rebirth) begin

When you look at Haiti as a whole, there are so many challenges.   Often it seems very overwhelming when you see that everything is needed.  By everything, education, housing, clean water, sanitation, jobs, energy, security, etc.  Gonave has a unique chance to get this right with the correct leadership.  With the right leadership that isn't afraid to make bold change, and believes in selfless thoughts, Gonave can have a rebirth of sorts.  Many have promised Haiti a rne, or Rebirth after the earthquake.  Many places are still waiting years after it happened.  Much of the billions of dollars promised have yet to reach Haiti, and many NGO's or non-governmental agencies pocketed the money for operation costs.  Much of the money was lost due to corruption within Haiti itself.  Citizens have to be smarter and demand change.  This isn't to turn Gonave into an independent nation.  This isn't to rally against Haiti.  This IS to demand that Haiti give Gonave the chance to rn

A Caribbean TV Channel is now on our blog.

This is just the beginning.  Remember me telling everyone about Over The Top programming.  Well we are now starting a small scale project.  You can now watch Cinestream TV, via Filmon TV which is a Barbados channel. Stay tuned as we build this blog and our future platforms. GO Gonave!

Donations coming in.

Currently we have started getting donations in for the start of a honey farm on Gonave.  PlaceProps and Amazon.com of Seattle, WA are assisting in this effort. We will be getting contributions on a monthly basis, so we will work hard on getting money to assist in our goal.  We also have contributed money towards this project as well. Go Gonave!

Gonave is RISING!

Yes I talk a lot about shipping containers being used on Gonave.  Well the fact is, these containers are cheap to buy, Goave is surrounded by water, so these containers can be shipped in, they are durable against earthquakes and strong wind, they are fast to build, and the list goes on. With that said, I will post and re-post some pictures on the internet of shipping container apartment buildings that would make sense for Gonave.  ****I do not own these pictures and if rightful owners want them removed, please let me know.**** All of the above are made from shipping containers.  While some are obvious, others like the third picture may not be.  These containers make perfect sense and can help increase population density on a island of small size.  Now looking at these buildings you may think that they don't provide enough options, but you are wrong.   I will show you how the inside of these apartments can look.  Now again a special note.  ****I do not own these p

Focus City Plot Map

Below is a rough copy of what the Focus City plot map will look like.  One the original format it has the plot numbers and POR or Point of Reference.   Those plot points have been removed until it is finalized.  The plot map will allow for developers to pick a plot area for development.  Each individual plot or square represents a city block of 500 ft by 500 ft.  Within this Focus City (Area) will include housing, central park, school, retail, police/fire station, hotel, admin building, a museum, and some light manufacturing. We are still working on this, but this plot map has been submitted to developers and business owners to give them an idea of what the Focus City will look like.    Go Gonave

Potentially getting Starbucks and using connections with craft beer companies in America.

One of the folks here is working on a quicker solution that would require minor investment, but would have a strong future on Gonave.  I just wrote a blog today talking about using local coffee to supply Coffee Cubes LTD.  We are also looking to see if Starbucks would be interested in coffee that is from Gonave.  Our offices are based out of Seattle, which is where Starbucks is located.  So getting connections would be easier than say if we were in another part of the country. The idea would be to grow a specific coffee bean, that would then be imported to America, and then onto Starbucks.  Now this will require some homework on our part due to Starbucks having a large volume of blends, and due to Starbucks high standards.  This is still in the early stages, but could prove to be a major accomplishment if this gains traction.  Starbucks isn't the only company we are looking at.  Even Tully's will be considered as well.  Guess what, they are also based in Seattle. Another i

Coffee Cubes Limited continued....

Image
In a previous blog I wrote about a company that wanted to bring a new business concept to Gonave Island.  The company would rely mostly on tourist, but also offer coffee to locals as well.  Coffee Cubes Limited would use shipping containers or build small stations that would allow the coffee to be delivered to customers. Just yesterday I spoke with the company again.  They still have an interest in the project.  I also asked where they get their coffee beans from.  Most of their beans are imported from South America.  I mentioned to them that Gonave currently has coffee operations that exist due to World Vision.  Not only were they excited of this news, but stated that this would potentially be an avenue that they would use to purchase coffee locally. There is more to come on this, but I wanted to get as much information out there as possible.  Be sure to recommend your friends and family to this site! Go Gonave!

Connecting Gonave to the Caribbean and America.

Currently a developer who wished to not be named wanted to build a small scale tourist area.  After reading what I have posted on plans to turn Gonave into a Special Administrative Region of Haiti, they have released plans that could make Gonave a tourist destination. Ideas such as a small exhibition space with another developer building a hotel.  A small rodeo stage that is designed for tourists to watch theatrical shows.  A slingshot style amusement ride.  Also a potential small scale baseball  park.  A small scuba operation as well as jet ski rentals. Now it sounds a bit far fetched, but based on the companies past projects and financials, this is something that could be done. With that said, how would people get to Gonave?  The dirt runway on Gonave will not be suitable for multiple aircraft daily and weekly.  One thought would be to build a small 1.2 mile asphalt runway that can handle 50 seat passenger planes.  One idea would be to start an airline that would take people f
